SCABIGARD Vaccine for Scabby Mouth in Sheep – Zoetis

SCABIGARD is the world’s first tissue-cultured scabby mouth vaccine, developed in Australia for Australian grazing conditions. It helps protect lambs and sheep against scabby mouth disease with a single scratch, providing over 12 months of immunity in most cases.

Why Choose SCABIGARD?

This live vaccine delivers a mild, controlled form of the disease at a protected vaccination site, ensuring effective immunity without production loss. It’s proven, safe for use from birth, and suitable for all stages of pregnancy.

Key Benefits

  • Protects against scabby mouth disease in lambs and sheep
  • Single scratch provides 12 months’ protection or longer
  • Can be given from birth with no production impact
  • Safe for use during pregnancy

Recommendations for Use

  • Vaccinate where scabby mouth is common or as a routine at lamb marking
  • When starting a vaccination program, treat all sheep and lambs
  • Vaccinated sheep can transmit the virus to unvaccinated animals

  • Do not use antiseptics on the site before or after vaccination
  • Safe use at all stages of pregnancy but vaccinate at least 6–8 weeks before lambing
