How does MOUSEOFF Zinc Phosphide Bait work?
When a mouse consumes a poisoned grain, zinc phosphide reacts with stomach acid to release phosphine gas. This gas is absorbed quickly, depressing the central nervous system and causing death, often after just one grain. Over 90% control is typically achieved within 1–2 days of application.
Application and Use
Apply at 1kg/ha using ground spreaders or aerial application. A single grain is lethal to a mouse, with the rate designed to control high-density populations and glutton feeders. Do not apply bait in heaps or trails, and ensure even distribution.
When and Where to Use
Use MOUSEOFF ZP when mouse numbers threaten crop damage, before or after sowing, and up to 2 weeks before harvest. It is suitable for use in crops, pasture and ploughed land, but not in towns, residential areas or near farm buildings. Avoid application within 50m of wildlife refuges.
Why choose MOUSEOFF Zinc Phosphide Bait?
This bait provides broad-scale protection with minimal environmental risk, making it ideal for integrated pest management. It is effective in both small and large-scale applications and remains active after dew or light rain.
Packaging and Storage
Available in 15kg plastic pails with tamper-evident lids or 125kg epoxy-lined steel drums. Store below 40°C in original packaging. Shelf life is several years if kept dry.
Environmental Protection
Zinc phosphide poses low risk to non-target species when used as directed. Dead mice are not toxic to scavengers and most die underground, reducing visibility and secondary risk.
Restrictions
MOUSEOFF ZP is a Schedule 7 poison and is only available through approved suppliers. Withholding period is 14 days before harvest or grazing treated stubble.
