Equinox Anthelmintic Paste for Horses
Equinox Anthelmintic Paste is a broad-spectrum wormer from the benzimidazole (BZ) group, ideal for use in rotational worming programs for horses. Containing oxfendazole, it disrupts the parasite’s metabolic pathways and sterilises worm eggs within 24 hours, helping reduce pasture contamination.
Targeted Parasites
- Large Roundworms (Parascaris equorum – adult and immature)
- Pinworms (Oxyuris equi – adult and immature)
- Hairworms (Trichostrongylus axei – adult and immature)
- Large Mouth Stomach Worms (Habronema microstoma – adult)
- Susceptible Small Strongyles (redworms)
- Large Strongyles (bloodworms) including:
- Strongylus edentatus (tissue stages)
- Aids control of Strongylus vulgaris migrating stages, reducing arterial lesions and colic risk
Note: Equinox does not treat bots or tapeworms.
Active Ingredients
10 mg/kg oxfendazole
Dosage & Administration
- Dose at 5 mL per 100 kg bodyweight (10 mg/kg oxfendazole)
- One 30 g syringe treats a 600 kg horse
- Markings on the syringe plunger deliver enough paste for 50 kg bodyweight
To administer: Insert the syringe into the side of the horse’s mouth and deposit paste on the rear of the tongue. Raise the horse’s head briefly to ensure swallowing.
Efficacy & Re-treatment
- Single dose kills up to 88% of fourth-stage Strongylus vulgaris larvae
- Two doses (48 hours apart) kill up to 96% of larvae
- Repeat treatment every 6–8 weeks
Safety & Precautions
- Safe for foals (over 6 weeks), yearlings, stallions and pregnant mares
- Do not use in foals under 6 weeks of age
